Final Print

I have directed this image at people heading for a night out. It is aimed at people who may think too much drink may control their actions at some point in the night. People have been injured and even killed by people who cannot handle drink on a night out. Also, a link to the drink aware website is given at the bottom. People during the night out may use the website on their mobile phones to monitor how much they drink through the night. Not only will it help themselves in a health respect, it will also help their wallets.

Advertising

I think the audience involving Saints Rugby team will obviously be the residents of St Helens. The vast majority of the inhabitants of this town are rugby fans, supporting Saints and other teams such as Wigan, Warrington and Widnes. These signs are focussed on possibly the 'backseat' fans who don't go to many matches, or focussed on people who aren't necessarily rugby fans but could like to become a fan in the future. They're not directed at long time fans, they will not need advertisements to entice them to attend a match, and they are not directed at fans of other teams. Other fans will not want to betray their team, and the people who put the advertisements up I would hope would not expect people to do that.

I don't think I can bring anything from this advertisement into my work. It is a low key image, with a dark background. My image is high key, bright lighting to create a more calm atmosphere.

Final Test Image

With this image, using photoshop I have drained the saturation. This has given the image a more 'sepia' feel.

Researched Studio Images

This image works well. It hits the viewer hard, the tiger looks angry as to what is possibly behind them sneaking up......time. Unfortunately though a downside to this image is that it doesn't say how we can prevent it.

This works better than the first one. A list of what smoking does has been added onto the poster. Smoke is not quite pouring out of his mouth, it is more or less staying there possibly ready to attack him. The smoke in the background can indicate passive smoking, there is never only one victim.
This image appears to be taken in a studio. An uncredited man has sat on this car, and this idiot's face has been photoshopped onto his body. This was a Labour poster campaign. It works well mainly for people who lived through the 1980s and saw what Margaret Thatcher did to Britain. Labour want people to think David Cameron will do the same.

Related Images

I found these images whilst circling about on Google Images. It is pictures like this that I am trying to prevent, night out violence. Compared to domestic violence and riots, things like this do not 'make the front pages' when it comes to getting a message across. People get horifically drunk on nights-out, do not have a clue what they are doing, wake up the next morning in a police cell or a hospital and have no recollection of how they get there.....some even don't wake up at all.

26 year old Scott Sheard was punched in the head by an unknown man during a night out in Southport. This attack was unprovoked, and it left him severly brain damaged. He couldn't eat, talk or walk. Two years after the attack, Scott died in hospital from septicemia.
The above image is from a television advert. It is quite shocking that this is the only related advertisement I can find about this subject. It proves that this problem isn't being tackled well.

28/02/12

These pictures were taken on the 26th January 2012

A picture of Ashley Smith in the studio, using two lights. One light behind the camera, the other with a honeycomb filter facing the background. A reflector was used in the left of the image.

This was uploaded in a hurry. This image would have been cropped to remove the 'green-screen' in the background!

Low Key image of Sean Nicholas

Same set-up as the picture with Ashley Smith, however Sean is in the image.
This was taken on the 19th January 2012. I took this to represent a checkmate during chess, however there is a few flaws to it as I'm sure some hardcore chess fans might have noticed.
